Networking is essential to building a meaningful career, but can easily get pushed down our to-do list.

We can delay networking until it becomes urgent: When the project we’re working on requires sponsorship, when the restructure hits, or we’ve had enough of our current career path and are ready for a change. But when there’s a time-pressure, networking can become transactional. We can miss opportunities to deepen relationships, and open up possibilities for our careers, because we are focused on a particular outcome.

Many of my clients bring this topic to our coaching sessions. They want to be more proactive and have the conversations with people who could positively impact their work and careers, but feel stuck.

When networking feels like a chore it is because we haven’t found our own, authentic approach to it.

We may have taken on well-meaning advice from bosses, mentors and gurus about ‘putting ourselves out there’ in ways that just aren’t us. So we find excuses not to bother, or the conversations and interactions we end up having, don’t have the impact we’re hoping for.

But there is another way.

When we are led by a deeper sense of purpose, networking can feel joyful. For us, and the people we meet along the way. When it feels like this, it naturally becomes something we prioritise.

I have witnessed my clients’ careers transform as they have cultivated their own authentic approach to networking. It has also underpinned my own career as I’ve moved towards increasingly meaningful work.

Which is why I am excited to be offering this new pop-up workshop…

What you’ll get from this 90-minute session:

  • Develop greater awareness about your current networking ‘inner blocks’

  • Explore three powerful mind-set shifts, fundamental to developing your own authentic approach to networking

  • Learn simple, actionable networking strategies, applicable both off-line and online (e.g. on LinkedIn) to help you become more visible, without compromising on your values

This session is for you if you are:

  • A purpose-led in-house leader or aspiring leader, wanting to develop your approach to networking, to enhance your impact in your existing role or as you plan your next career move

  • In transition, actively looking for your next move, and want to find meaningful, fulfilling work, whatever that means to you

  • Looking to expand your network and open up possibilities, as you create a path out of your traditional corporate role

  • Have already left your corporate gig and are in the early stages of growing your freelance, consulting or coaching career

I am currently offering this session at no charge. The number of seats is limited due to the tech set-up I’ll be using, so if you book a place, please be sure you can make it live.

If you’d like to come but the date doesn’t work, you can opt to receive my email updates here and be notified of future dates for this and other events. I will also make a recording available after the event, which you’ll be able to purchase from my website for £30.

When you sign up to attend live, you will be added to my community of email subscribers, and can stay subscribed for whatever duration feels good for you.

I hope to see you there!

All my best,

Claire

p.s. This is not a one of those ‘free events’ where very little useful information is shared, and when you get there you realise it’s mainly a sales pitch. My intention is to facilitate an enjoyable, thought-provoking session that will empower you as you walk away.

Towards the end of the workshop, for no more than 5 minutes, I will let you know about my current offerings.

You can also read about my newest offering, The Joyful Career Accelerator here.

p.p.s Some testimonials below from other events I have offered:

"My mindset on development plans has completely changed after attending the workshop yesterday. I have not only come away with a completely refreshing view on how to ensure my development plan benefits me and the organisations I work for, but I am also inspired to make sure I help those I work with and lead to do the same." Kerry Horvath, Environmental and Energy Manager, Hammerson

“The session was engaging, thought provoking and gave me a push to look at my development plan with fresh eyes. After the session I took the time to focus on myself and updated my development plan. This gave me the confidence to go for a promotion at work, and I got it! Anyone wanting to think about their development plan and growth as a leader in a different way, won't be disappointed!" Holly Messenger, Assistant Director of Growth and Development, Mount green Housing Association

Just a quick thank you note to say how inspired I was by the session.  I can honestly say in 20 years as a HR professional it is the first time my development plan will actually be entirely focussed on such personal development and I am hoping it will lead to a very different type of conversation with my boss.  I am going to start the conversation with the opening line “this is unapologetically different.
