Most development planning in the corporate world tends to focus on what people see and hear us do. The outside bit. It can seem like a no-brainer to prioritise feedback and advice from your boss and mentors as you put your plan together.
And whilst feedback from others is useful to consider, if your development plan is predominantly driven from the outside-in, it can lack teeth in growing your leadership. It can also feel like a dry to-do list (and end up in a drawer), rather than something you can’t wait to get started on.
What others see is only part of the picture when it comes to developing yourself.
Long term, the most effective way to grow our leadership, is to work on our inner world first.
Without actively looking within, career progression can feel uninspiring, exhausting and all-consuming. But when you start to build a strong inner foundation, your working life starts to feel different.
Rather than feeling like you’re struggling up a hill, on a bike with no gears, you’ll have more moments where you feel like you’re riding down the hill with the wind in your hair and the sun on your face :)
This is what I want more people’s experience of their leadership careers to be.
Which is why I am offering this workshop to help you create a development plan that supports your growth from the inside-out.
So what can this kind of approach look like in practice?
